About Kevin

Kevin was born and raised in the agricultural area in Western Australia. He worked as a mainstream upper primary and lower secondary classroom teacher for 5 years then his life underwent a significant change between 1976 and 1996. During time he worked in various roles within 12 – 15-year-old boys/young men with behavioural and emotional difficulties, and completed a social work degree. He also was among a team who planned for and founded Clontarf Aboriginal College in Perth. He led that agency for nearly 6 years. For the final 5 years of this period Kevin was involved with education of mainly Aboriginal Students at Nulungu/St Mary’s College in Broome during a time of significant transition.

After spending the next 12 years in leadership positions within the Christian Brothers (a Religious Congregation in the Catholic Church) Kevin moved to Wewak in Papua New Guinea in 2009. While there Kevin led a faith-based NGO started by the Christian Brothers to support education and other services for persons with disabilities – with a strong focus on children. He also had interactions with young adults and lecturers/families within a university campus and surrounding villages/settlements. Kevin still publishes a weekly reflection for PNG readers which is also read by others in New Zealand and Australia (https://reflectionsfromkevin.wordpress.com/)

Kevin is a graduate of a Heart of Life/University of Divinity formation program for spiritual directors and he returned to live in Perth in September 2025.

While a committed Christian, Kevin has been influenced by Aboriginal and Melanesian spiritual traditions as well as by experiences within Vipassna Buddhism.
