Invitation to Silence: Meditation and Creation

You are warmly invited to join in Friday meditation online. From Friday September 3 though to October 22, 2021, Judith Keller will lead our sessions over Season of Creation with an 8 week series titled, ‘Meditation and Creation’. Over this time we will continue to acknowledge the wisdom of First Nations peoples as we move into sitting in silence together for 20 minutes. After meditation we will draw on a selection of poems of Judith Wright, known fo her deep love of the Australian landscape and the meditative beauty of some of her writing. The opening and closing of our sessions is accompanied by music, a short opening text about meditation and a prayer or blessing. We move into our sitting with a short body scan, breath awareness or heart coherence practice. Judith will also incorporate some short creative visualisations but the emphasis remains on shared silence. There will be no breakout rooms over these sessions.
Judith is a member of ANSD and a facilitator of prayer and reflection days. She loves to work with lectio divina and visio divina practices for sacred listening and seeing, drawing on psalms, poetry and the visual arts. She is also a member of various additional community organisations where her passion and commitment to ecology, spirituality, meditation and the arts are explored and expressed. These organisations include AELA, Treesisters, and the Deeptime Network. Judith has been a university lecturer, adult educator, and sacred dancer. kellsull@ozemail.com.au
